Day 31 - We are back!

I can't believe it, the little virus thing I got was far greater than I first thought. On Day 8, I blogged to running a record and very close towards my 8 minute mile goal. But as luck would have it the germs got me in a big way.

First off it was fine in terms of the usual site throat, running nose and coughing which in total lasted just over a week. Compared to expert reports that average cold lasts 18 days, I thought I was lucky. But sadly just as I thought I am well, I started having something that I now know it as "Pulsatile Tinnitus".

The cause if this can range from ear infection to ear wax, all the way to upcoming strokes, brain tumor, or upcoming heart attack. This was quite scary as I literally start making plans to settle my life after I pass.

The goodness of it all is undoubtedly the fact that what was importance on earth is bit so important anymore if you know you are going to die tomorrow.

Google can be a blessing or a curse and in this episode it was more of a curse knowing the disorder affects about 3% of Tinnutis sufferer and also it's usually vascular. And so I was prepared to either have a stroke soon or I'd be in surgery room.

The constant noise of hearing your heartbeat 72 times a minute was annoying and it will be paralyzing in the future. It will cause a lot of heartache. But it got compounded by this being one of the possible symptoms for more serious issues.

But anyhow we went through GP, Chiro , ENT with antibiotics for more than 10 days and the condition still persist. Ism convinced that it isn't going away any time soon.

Be it as it may, I will continue to exercise because not only is it good for me, but it will also provide enough noises so that I don't hear myself

I am been running 3 days in a row now at 2-3.5 miles each. So this will at least be a catalyst for something that may turn into a healthier habit, even if the Tinnutis gets worse.

Stay tuned...

Day 8 - Personal Record

UIts one thing to have a goal (8 minute mile) but it's another to try to get there. Too often we just want it tomorrow. Is this just like wanting tone rich or righteous? Oh wait those two probably don't go together very often...

The short of it is that I got sick. Down with a sore throat and I was resting the whole weekend. When I say resting I actually meant sleeping 8 hours instead of the usually 6, plus taking the kids to here and that. The only thing was trying to do less work than usual.

Today I felt better, the coughing stage. So  I decided to no let this whole 6 month mission get into the trash can. And you know this blog thing helps. Even though no one in their right mind would read this right? But it's something else I can care about ie you not having anything about the pain I am having training to read about.

Anyhow a good day and I was doing well the first mile and decided to continue. I was almost there at 8 minute mile buti did take one break after one mile and so it's 8.5 minute mile. And there's something to strive for for couple more days. Otherwise I am not sure if I am ready for 7 min mile yet.

Cheers!!!

Day 3 - Chasing the 10 minute mile

Fortunately I don't have any fire drill this morning so I decided its time to put health as a priority. It was a case of setting aside time, and organize it to make it possible. But it doesn't always happen. Yesterday I tried to make it happen with everything packed but too many meetings and locations I have to be. Right, at the end of the day it's all about physics.

Last night I felt moments of shortness of breath. It was almost like my body forgot to breath and when I realized, I was out of breath catching up. Despite the kids yelling and screaming I walked away for a moment and googled what maybe happening to me. Could it be an upcoming heart attack or lung condition? Or could it be just normal anxiety? Oh is there anything normal in anxiety? Anyhow will keep this a potential wake up all shall we?

Back to exercising, I did 2.5 miles under 25 minutes so that's a record for staying under 10 minute mile. My legs are still sore from day 1 so thank God for making it.

I went over to the gym section but I have yet to try those. I lifted those years ago and did pretty well with toning but this time I figured I better have a program and know what I am doing this 6 months.

Ok I am now way hungry... It's almost noon time...

Day 2 - Old habits never dies

Today was one hectic day and as much as I dreaded training, I had the plan for it. I have the bag all packed. But I also had production issues to deal with. At the end of the day, 4 work priorities took up all the time I would have for running.

Reflecting the past few months, work has always been like this. So at each pondering moments, it's about how to deal with random events and to be able to keep the training schedule. I knew I have to do this.

Driving back on the radio talked about how busy people focus on accumulating wealth that ultimate are not theirs to keep when you die. The one thing we get to keep is our health. So that got me all excited about exercising for 10 minutes before reality bites.

I guess I now need to focus on not letting my schedule getting in the way. Besides all the important (must do) things, I need to carve out the time. And that goes for the 150 projects I want to get done before death. Yikes!

Anyway, let's keep up the blog at least as a reminder of the number of days achieved versus the misses.

Day 1 - Feeling Good

Day one always feels good but given so many failures along the way it's important to have this blog to power my will. Let the world make me accountable...

Good start today with 2.53 miles in 26.5 minutes. Almost 300 cal burnt, but that's not even a Big Mac burger... Working out is tough.

In addition I am fighting for time starting this at 4pm and trying to pick up the kids by 5 ish.

No Nike Fuel Band, no fancy apps. We are gonna do it the raw Rocky way... Sweat it out...

As a bonus I did have the luxury of watching "The Tourist" while on the machine. That's Johnny in the picture but of course it's a bigger pleasure to watch Angelina Jolie.

At the Beginning...
